Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese Herbal Medicine has been practised in China for thousands of years. It uses the same treatment principles and diagnosis as acupuncture. There are about 5000 plants presently in use which are categorised according to their different properties. A herbal formula is tailor-made for the individual’s specific presenting symptoms.

Claire Battersby completed a 5-year course in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine in 1998, since when she has run a busy private practice in London. She has many years of experience, and has done extensive study into the treatment of gynaecological, digestive, respiratory, endocrine and autoimmune disorders, headaches and migraines. In her practice, she may use acupuncture or Chinese herbal medicine, or a combination of the two, to obtain the very best result.

Claire has a special interest in the field of fertility, gynaecology and obstetrics, in which she has undergone extensive post-graduate training. Besides infertility, and pregnancy care, this includes IVF support, habitual miscarriage, and menstrual problems, such as PCOS and endometriosis. In the field of gynaecology, in particular, Claire’s approach is to incorporate western medical diagnosis and theory into a traditional Chinese framework, and she has links to some of the UK’s leading gynaecologists and fertility specialists.

Claire set up and runs Conceive, a Clinic specializing in Fertility, Gynaecology and Pregnancy healthcare at the Goose Green Clinic, which offers an integrated approach to helping with infertility and menstrual problems and providing care during and post-pregnancy.

Claire is committed to deepening her knowledge of Chinese medicine and has studied with some of the world’s most eminent Chinese medical doctors, including Tinh Thong Nguyen, Jeffrey Yuen, Dr Huang Huang, and Dr Arnaud Versluys.
